Pleased that it was finally time to return to the common room, Lily bid a short but sweet goodbye to a few of her friends and left the Gryffindor table, her cloak floating angelically around her ankles as she made for the huge doors of the Great Hall. Her dinner had been rather satisfactory, and she was quite fond of the small cheesecakes that the house elves put together so delicately. Lily had always had a spot for the small workers of Hogwarts, and longed to own one of her own sometime in the future.
When the huge wooden doors had closed behind her, the red head crossed the entrance hall and began climbing the stairs, waiting patiently when one decided to change, and occasionally stopping to bid a good evening to a portrait. Obviously, this was a rather unusual thing to do, but she felt it was just as normal as speaking with one of the ghosts that wandered so freely around the school.
She chose the moment to think further on this matter as the staircase reaching from the third to fourth floor chose to swing away from her before she could step onto it. Before she had met Severus, Lily had known nothing of this world, let alone portraits that speak back, ghosts and house elves. The next thing that occured to her was the fact she had once again thought of Snape, the very boy she was attempting to block out of her mind, avoid all memories off and forget completely. However, there was always that nagging feeling that brought her back to wandering how he was, or that accidental slip of thoughts that lead to even more thinking. It was all very confusing.
As the steps returned to their position infront of her, Lily stepped on quickly and made her way up, wanting to avoid being on them whilst they changed. This was a sensation she hated a lot, and one of the main things that she disliked about the magical school. Gazing up above her, the seventh year noticed a group of people entering the common room, and wandered who it was. Her head began to wander to the Marauders, who were always in their group, but that was just her hoping, it almost never was.
Finally reaching the fifth floor, She was about to recite the password when something caught her eye. One of the nearby pictures was waving quite unusual, as if it were requiring attention or something similar. Smiling apologetically at the Fat Lady, Lily made her way towards the portrait, which happened to be of an extraordinarily dressed old man. Looking at him curiously for a moment or two, she was then surprised to hear him shouting at her for being nosey, yet she did not move.

Severus, who didn't have the time to eat this evening had been down in dungeons all night, doing experiments. He had a permission from Slughorn himself, so not to worry. The only thing he could fear by now, was all the students, who would laugh at him when he came from the dungeons, with dirt in his face and maybe on his shirt.
Sev didn't really thought it through, but he decided to move up a story, and he stopped in the Entrance Hall for a second to think. Hmm, dinner, was his first thought, so he decided to go in there, but he was being stopped by McGonagall in the door. "Mr. Snape! Go and change now, that clothes aren't appropriate for dinner in The Great Hall." Sev was not glad at all, that meant he had to go all the way down to his dormitory just to change. Silly!
On his way down there he started to think of Lily. Sev knew, that she probably hated him, for what he had called her... But honestly, she was and still are a mudblood. He sort of regret it by now, he knew he had lost her like forever. He sighed and hurried down the stairs to get changed. Right before he got out of the door he looked in mirror and cursed his crooked nose and his greasy hair to hell.
On his way up to the great hall, he tried to avoid McGonagall, but she was noisy as ever before - "Well done Mr. Snape. Now you can go and eat." She said, almost singing it. Snape ignored her and found himself a spot at the half-empty Slytherin table. He decided to eat fast, he wanted to explore the castle, it had been a while since he had done that last time.
After he had finished his dinner he walked up the first stairs and looked around. No one there. He walked all the way up to seventh floor, just to look. Maybe Lily was there. He bit his lip and was suddenly nervous. Then he actually saw her, and smiled. He cleared his throat a little, maybe she would hear him.
ooc; i hope it's okay i joined.. and she isn't inside the common room, right?

Lily continued watching the unusual portrait for quite a while, more for something to occupy her mind with more than anything else. It only occured to her about five minutes later that she was still being yelled at by the eccentric old man infront of her, and decided it was best to continued down to the common room. Bidding an ignored farewell to the painting, the red head began decending the steps, a half smile returning to her face.
As she reached the actual common room, Lily was torn between whether she really did want to go straight in. After all, dinner had just finished and it was almost definate that most Gryffindor students would be right behind the portrait, shouting, singer and making constant noise. Although she wasn't often known as a bore, the seventh year occasionally liked peaceful surroundings and quiet areas, which forced her to climb the stairs that arrived next at her feet.
Reaching the next platform, it was then that Lily realised someone had cleared their throat somewhere nearby. Her first thought was that one of the people in their gleaming frames were making noises in their sleep, or silently commenting on her choice to walk away from the common room. However, as she turned her head this way and that, none of the surrounding portraits seemed to have made the noise.
Brushing her skinny hands through her dark red hair, she let out a long sigh, turning just in time to see a portrait silently pointing at her, and then up a little. It was only then that she saw the figure of another standing a floor or so up, a familiar figure at that. The dark, rather unusual face of Severus eventually came clear to her, and although her heart missed a beat she was unable to decide whether it was for good, or not. As she was not a rude person, nor an ignorant one at most times, Lily decided it wouldn't hurt to simply speaking with him. A civil conversation never hurt anyone, right? "Good evening, Severus
" She called out, attempting to hide any emotion from her voice, unaware of what the resultant reply would be. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

So she actually did heard him. He was surprised, but glad at the same time. He came out from the shadow and looked down in the ground, not at her. "Good evening Lily." He said, and his voice sounded nervous. What on earth was Severus doing up here, standing next to the enemy? He felt like hell. He walked a step closer to her.
"Ermh, Lils. About last time. I want to apologize. I behaved really bad. It was just your stupid boyfriend who did it. He made me mad.." Severus said and suddenly he sweat a lot more than he usually did.
He looked at her. "Can I make it up to you? I really want to show you something, I've discovered." He said and drove a hand through his hair, and with the other hand he reached out for her hand.

Lily was almost panicking as Severus came towards her, unsure of whether she regretted greeting him. Her emotion towards the guy were so confusion lately, not even she could understand it. Wanting something to keep herself occupied whilst they spoke, she began playing with the hem of her sleeves, forcing herself to look at the equally nervous boy infront of her.
Listening to his every word with her teeth sunk into her lip, Lily made no movement nor sound untill silence fell between them again, and his hand was extended towards her. Letting out a sigh, what seemed like a thousands thoughts began rushing through her mind, each giving her different reasons to go with him or walk away. She had never forgotten what he'd called her, and was immediately annoyed whenever he mentioned James, but still - he was trying to apologise, right?
Lily lifted her hand slowly, but withdrew it for a second, almost splitting her lip with the force from biting on it. Waiting a few more seconds, she moved with a sudden burst of energy, taking his hand and finally piercing a small hole in her lip. "I'll come with you Sev, but that doesn't mean I've forgiven for calling me a mu- well, for saying what you did.
" She stated monotonously, confirming it to herself more than anyone else. It then dawned on her that he was about to show her something, but what exactly was it? If it was something relating to the Dark Arts, Lily promised herself she would never, ever forgive him, no matter what he said or did.

Severus smiled nervous at her and started to walk up yet another staircase, while he thought to himself, that she would love this. He stopped at the astronomy towers and walked in. "Come on Lils, nothing is dangerous. And it isn't dark arts. You know I wouldn't hurt you, right?" He said with a more and more confident smile.
Soon, they stood with a lot of binoculars. He guided Lily over to the nearest one and asked her to look inside the hole. "That you see there is Orion's Belt, and that one over there is The Great Bear." He pointed at the skies and smiled. "Astronomy never really interested me, but this is fascinating. What do you think?" He asked and smiled awkwardly.

Lily returned a small smile, hoping for the best as she followed him up the staircase. She admitted to herself that she did trust Sev not to hurt her physically, and therefore had no apparant reason to be afraid, although there was the tiniest hint of fear at the back of her mind. As she followed the dark haired boy, Lily could do nothing but stare at him, her thoughts refilling her mind. Once or twice she decided she would just forgive him there and then, but something always turned her against the idea, and eventually she gave up, merely following him quietly.
Needless to say, Lily was quite confused and curious when they arrived in the Astronomy tower, but followed the instructions her childhood friend gave her, immediately hovering her eye right infront of the glass, instantly amazed by what she saw. Lifting her head away from the binoculars, the red head, forgetting all other thoughts, doubts and confusion she'd had, turned to him and whispered her words, "Oh, Sev.. It's beautiful!
" Lily exclaimed, her words almost inaudiable. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Severus smiled at her reaction. Yes! Severus 1, James Potter 0!" He thought to himself and smiled broadly. It was the first time in many days he had smiled this big. "I'm glad you like it.. I would have brought you outside, but it's way too cold in my meaning.. And besides, we don't want want to get ill.. "
He smiled and looked at her. She was very beautiful, but Sev had always thought that. He was just to shy to say it to her. He just smiled at her, and drove a hand through his hair.

Lily could do nothing more than smile at Severus, before running her own hand through her violently red hair. Finally, her thoughts were beginning to clear, and the girl decided there was something she had to sort out with Snape, purely because she missed his occasional company. Just this small trip to the Astronomy tower had reminded her exactly how different he really was, in a good way of course. She knew most of her friends would disagree with what she was going to say, but they weren't here to convince her otherwise.
"Listen, Sev,
" Lily began, sighing before she continued, " I do miss seeing you so very much, but what you said and did really upset me... I honestly don't want us to go on avoiding each other like this, it's ever so awful." She finished, this time reaching out her own hand for his. " Please, let us be friends again, like we were?" The seventh year pleaded quietly, hoping he'd understand what she was saying. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Severus was kind of overwhelmed with what she said. But someway he felt the same way and wanted them to be friends again instead of enemies. He nodded and took her hand and squeezed it. He really wanted this to happen. " I would love to, Lil. I really would. I don't like us fighting and avoiding each other." He said with a smile.
He wanted to hug her and sort of made a move to do it. "I'm glad we solved this Lils." He said and smiled broadly at her, not wanting to think of James or any other, he just wanted to think of Lily and how pretty and sweet she was at this very moment.

Lily smiled, but resumed chewing on her lip and gazed down at their now joined hands. In no way did she regret what had just happened, but that didn't stop her worrying a frightful amount about the consequences. Lifting her head, her bright smile returned to her face and she nodded, "Me too.
" The red head agreed, squeezing his hand slightly. Much to her disappointment, the thoughts were once again flying into her mind, but this time they clearer, enabling her to think straight. James wouldn't like this one bit, neither would his friends. Not to mention her own friends. And Severus - did his friends know about her? Either way, they wouldn't like it for sure. Blinking twice, Lily decided that she was an individual, and Snape was one of her best friends ever since that day in the playground. The mere thought of it highlighted her smile and agreed that she should drop what others thought. Laughing quietly, Lily opened her arms for one of those hugs she'd missed for such a while. When Lily opened her arms for the hug, Sev couldn't do anything but smile. He was extremely happy. When they hugged he smiled and laughed a little. He whispered in her one ear: "You are not only my first friend, but also the best." He whispered and let go of her. He smiled awkwardly at her and looked down at the floor, a bit shy.
He then realized what all her friends would think, but then again... He never cared what anyone thought, so why do it this time? He shrugged at his thought and just looked at Lily. "Do you want to see some more stars or should I just let you go to your common room?" He asked with a caring smile. He really looked happy. And he was!

Lily smiled at him, and at his words. It confused her how people who disliked him couldn't just see the side of Severus that she did, but it occured to her that maybe he never really showed it. Either way, she saw the kind personality he had underneath all else, and it was exactly what she adored about him.
Squeezing his hand gently, She shook her head in response to his question, moving over to the edge of the tower and sitting herself upon the stone wall, first looking up at the stars and then down out the shadowed grounds below her. Looking back at her friend, she whispered to him, purely to keep the peaceful surrounding. "Sit with me, Sevvy? " Lily asked with a smile, patting the stone beside her.

Severus meant every word of what he just had said. She really was her first and best friend. He came to think of that time at the playground. Almost ten years ago by now. She had been there, red hair and a pink dress. And Sev had come, just because he needed some fresh air to clear his mind. He remembered how his parents were arguing, as usual. The playground wasn't far from his house, so both of the two kids could hear it. Sev wasn't happy about it, and when Lily asked whey they were yelling, Sev just said nothing. He was kind of embarrassed, and he sort of still were. But Lily hadn't ignored him. She was just sweet and asked all kind of stuff that he sooner or later had to answer. They met everyday for some months and in fact it was the best months of Severus' life. Maybe he could tell Lily that?
He shook his head for a second and came back to reality and looked how gracefully she sat down on the, probably, hard, cold stone. He smiled at her and walked over there with a smile on his lips and sat down. "This is nice. Nothing to worry about." He said and stretched. He then yawned, he was tired. But enjoyed sitting here alone with Lily. They he saw something in the sky - "Look now Lily! A shooting star. It's the first one I ever saw.." He said and looked fascinated.

Lily smiled, but noticed him yawn and thought maybe she should offer to walk with him back into the castle, although she was instantly distracted by his excitement at seeing a shooting star. As she tipped her head back, her red hair falling further down her back, Lily laughed quietly at the rather pretty looking white star flying across the sky above them. 'Wow' was all she could manage at first.
With all worried thoughts out of her mind, Lily nudged Snape gently and smiled, "You're suppose to wish on a shooting star,
" She began, her green eyes returning to look up at the stars, " Maybe you should have that one?" The seventh year suggested, remembering the time her mother had shared near enough the same conversation about the 'flying star' in the sky, despite it had turned out to be someone messing about on a broom. Running a hand through her hair, Lily wondered what the time was, and whether the Fat Lady would let her in despite her lateness in returning. However, it did not matter to her, as long as things were cleared up between her and her friend. [/blockquote][/blockquote]
