Izzy was not impressed.
Thus far, this year had been quite disappointing. Every other year something interesting had happened by now. Some sort of drama. The type that gave you an adrenaline rush. Or at least some event had come along to give her the opportunity to make something out of it. Some rumor that she could not resist investigating. Some might call the excitement she was looking for danger. Of course, most would also give the forest a wide berth, not caring to go any closer to it than they had to.
As much as Isserley loved venturing into the dark forest, hoping that maybe something might pop out to relieve her of the monotony of everyday life, even the idea of running into some dangerous creature lurking within failed to keep her interest today. Where was the thrill of doing something you could do any other day, when she hadn't even felt that initial start-of-the-year rush yet. Isserley loved the school for it's opportunities, and although it had failed to yield a good omen to her this year, she was still overjoyed to be back. Away from her nosing step-sisters. Away from her worrying mother, and her step-father, throwing his money at her like she gave a damn about it. What use did he really thing muggle coins would be to her?
The branches of the tree's felt like home beneath her feet as she stepped carelessly from one to another, tree to tree, sticking close to the edge of the forest. The thoughts running through her mind centered completely around what she could investigate now, what she had chased in the past, and where she could go to amuse herself for a little while. She had toyed with the idea of going for a swim, remembering her first year. How quickly she had jumped into the lake the moment she had seen the giant squid, careful to make it seem as though she had slipped and fallen in. She had wanted to see for herself it's temperament. No, a swim wouldn't do it right now.
She allowed herself to drop lower into the tree's as she came closer to the edge of the forest, landing on her back in close branches that were weaker than the ones she had been walking on farther in, but still strong enough that they only bounced in response to her weight. She she stared over the grounds at the castle that stood in the midst of the flowing grounds. She loved how the walls of the school seemed to glow in the twilight. Even though the structure was hardly the size of her hand from so far away, it still held the air of magnificence that it had since the day she had first seen it from the lake, shivering in her wet clothes after being pushed back into the four person boat she had fallen from. For a short while, as she watched the glow on the stones of the castle intensify, her need for a rush was pushed to the back of her mind.
