Syla lay on her bed. Her flanel plade pajama pants, rolled up to fit her at the hips, and random tee shirt (today's was a simple blue one) were tangled around her body from shifting from side to back to side. At that moment, she was laying on her back and was stairing up at the ceiling. The soft moon light driften in from the windows spaced throughout the room. Her eyes were wide open, her eyes adjusted to the dark long ago, so that they could take in everything. It wasn't that she wanted to be awake at midnight, it was that she haddn't been able to sleep for a fairly long time.
A few things had been playing through her mind over the last week or so. Life, what she was going to do later on, and Astronomy. But mainly astronomy. Her favorate subject was Astronomy and she could stay up late into the night, which she had been, thinking about all the diffrent things that the universe consisted of. Life in other worlds was one of her main favorites. To her, it just seemed compleatly impossible that Earth was the only planet in the whole entire univers that could have the right condictions for life.
Ok, so maybe there wasn't an exact life form that replicated Humans, but still. There had to be something (or somethings) that could hold life. She had many theories that possibly even in the Milky Way solar system there could be life. All you needed was a sun at a tempture that would allow planets to form and not be disintergated, and a planet far enough away. The possiblities were endless when it came to Syla and thinking about the universe.
She blinked. She raised her head up to look at her clock on her side table. The small hand was pointing at the number twelve, but a little before. She guessed that it was 11:59. The second hand was ticking past the 30 second marck, inching closer to 12 o'clock with every tick. When it reached 12, she sighed. "I'm never going to get to sleep" she murmured and sat up all the way. She pulled the elastic hair tie off of her wrist and tied her hair up.
She pushed the covers off of her, and shifted her body so her legs swung off of the side of the bed. Her bare feet touched down on the cold wooden floor. She stood up and leaned down to pull her socks onto her feet. When that was done, she slipped sliently out of the Dormitory, down the stairs, and into the common room.
Syla looked around the moon-light room. The embers in the fireplace were buring slowly, giving off a soft orange-ish glow. She walked around the room, looking out each of the windows, seeing which one had the best view tonight. She decided on one of the windows that were set back. She sat in it and pulled her feet in too. She looked out the window and admired the view. From here, you could see for miles.

Miss Veronica Chase sat in the Ravenclaw common room, her mind going over and over her paper she was infact a typical nerd really but she didn't really care she liked learning and that was something she was rather proud of to say the least. What she wasn't proud of was not having any friends, yes the Christian muggle born nerd had no friends, no one to talk to, no one to share her feelings with and no one to smile and tell her things would be ok when she was upset.
Yes Miss Chase lived a very lonely life, at home her mother and father cared more for Roo's little brother, they weren't best pleased when they found out they had a witch in the family, then there was her brother... Now he thought the world of her, always looked after her did everything a big brother should... of course he was married no and living in america with his wife and son.
So she had no one!
Veronica ran her hand through her hair and sighed deeply while she read and re read her paper some of the lines didn't seem to flow which made her get rather annoyed, she crossed out lines and re wrote lines hoping to figure out the write phrases and lexis for the piece. But that would of been a lot easier if someone hadn't walked into the room.
Roo looked up hearing someone walking into the room, she moved down in her seat hoping that no one would see her. Thankfully she didn't think the person did, Roo's head slowly moved up looking to see who it was... it was a girl she knew that much it was best if she didn't bother her really.
The small Ravenclaw stood up and softly picked up her books and started heading for the dorms, of course she would of done this a lot quieter if she hadn't tripped on the bottom of her robe and fallen over sending everything in her arms all over the floor. "Oh no." Veronica whispered glancing over her shoulder at the girl hoping she hadn't bothered her and then starting to pick up everything as fast as she could.

ooc) sorry for the delay! i've been quite out of it lately.
Syla continued to gaze out the window into the mountains far beyond the Castle. She longed to know what was out there. She had hear rumors that a tribe of Giants lived there, but she doubted that. From all the books she had read, Giants tended to stay as noth and out of highly human/wizard populated areas as possible.
She had also heard that Werewolves traveled from afar and gathered in groups just beyond the Hogwarts limits. But, Dumbledore wasn't likely to let werewolves any where near the castle. They were just to dangerous and to wild when it came close to the Full Moon. She couldn't see how that was possible.
Many other people had put their views in on what lurked outside of their reach, but nothing seemed that possible. Syla always had some reason to why that persons idea was ridicules, or that persons idea made no since. In the end, she just said that there was nothing out there but trees and birds. But, her own idea wasn't very plausible either. There was always something. No matter where you were, or what you were pondering, there was always most likely something, or someone, living there.
She brought herself back from her many-layered thoughts and to the present. She continued to look out the window, but up at the sky this time. Syla sighed. The night was so beautiful, she wished she could just freeze time and stay there forever more. But, a disturbance disrupted her silent staring and thinking. Her head turned slowly to look to see who was also in the common room at this early hour.
It was Veronica Chase. She was standing up a foot or so away from a chair, with her books spilled out all around her. That must have been the crashing sound I heard she thought. She pulled her feet out of the alcove and dropped them down to hang over the side. The light from the dying hearth flickered unevenly against the walls. "Do you need help with that?" I asked politely. I didn't know very much about Veronica, only that she was in my year and I had classes with her. Other than that, I hardly knew her.

The small Ravenclaw girl scrambled around picking up pieces of paper and her books hoping that the girl hadn't seen her or was even distracted from whatever she was doing, Veronica was scared, scared that she would be mad at her from bothering her, of course she wasn't really bothering her she just tripped but that wasn't the way the little blonde saw it.
Roo picked up her things untill she heard a voice, looking over her shoulder she saw the girl. "Sorry, i didn't meant to disturb you from whatever it was you were doing... i...i tripped and my stuff when everywhere... sorry." She said softly, she felt like such an idiot it was unreal, why did she always get herself into this mess? "No, it's ok..." The small Muggle girl said as she realised she'd been asked a question by the fellow Ravenclaw.
Finally standing up Roo picked up her pile of books and then looked down at her work, a soft sigh escaped her lips as she saw it had been messed up by her ink from her quill dripping all over it. "Just great." She muttered softly before looking a the girl again.
(ooc: sorry it's really short and lame!)

ooc) no probs. this'll probably be really bad. 9 o'clock at night aint the best time to write a reply. and, sorry. my right mouse button isn't working, so at the moment i can't spell check it. eekers. sorry, again!
Veronica was still picking up her ink stained papers when Syla asked if she needed any help. Even though she replied with "No, it's ok..." Slya jumped down from the window, only less then two feet up the wall, and walked over to her. "Look like all your papers are ruined." she said sympathetically. "Sucks. When are they due?" she asked. There were at least 5 rolls of partchment semi-dripping with the spilt ink. That had to be at least a half weeks worth of essay writing.
Syla remembered when she had a similar incident. Except a lot worse, and in front of actual people. When she was in the Second Year, she was carrying her books and she was stupid enough to be holding a ink well in her hand, too, along with some quills. She just so happened to be going down to Potions, when a Slytherin Seventh year decides that it would be hillarios if she tripped and fell and destroyed all her books. Well, that's exactly what she did. He tripped her, she fell, ink splattered all over her books, notbooks, the floor, and herself.
It was not a very fun afternoon for her. Professor Slughorn was having one of his 'off days' and refused to let her go to one of the bathrooms and clean herself up. So, she had to sit through double Potions with ink dripping and staining everything. Her Ravenclaw tie was pretty much ruined, and had to send out to get a new one.
"I had a similar experience in the second year. It really wasn't fun to have to redo everything that I had already done." Syla said. "I hated it. Had to ask around to get all the notes and everything." She added and picked up a few of the larger shards of glass. The paper had, unfortunetly for her, soaked up most of the ink so that there wasn't a very large ink stain on the floor, waiting for everyone in the morning. There were, still, a lot of shards of sharp, broken glass. "Well this'll be fun in the morning." she murmured, not expecting her fellow Ravenclaw to hear what she said.

For Veronica Chase her life had been filled with heartache since she was little, when she was a little bit younger her sister had taken her own life after being kidnapped and raped. Veronica blamed herself for this, it was all her fault because the guy thought he had her not Mary her twin sister, the moment Roo had found out she blamed herself and tried to take her own life as well... of course she clearly failed because she was still breathing.
A soft nod came from Veronica as Syla stated about her papers. "In the morning." the small blonde said softly looking at her work and feeling really angry with herself for tripping and messing up all her work. "I'm never going to get it done and i can't ask for more time because Professor Slughorn really doesn't seem to like me... he just yells and yells some more."
The first time she had ever met Professor Slughorn she the pair didn't get on at all, after the introduction in the class he had them making a simple potion and seeing as she did it perfectly he claimed she cheated and told her to leave the class when in fact she had just read the book over and over and knew it well enough to be able to have a go and get it right.
"Really?" Roo asked softly looking at the girl. "Least it would be easier for you to ask around you actually have friends... people would just look at me and laugh then walk away." Veronica stated before she pulled out her wand and pointed it at the glass on the floor. "Evanesco." She said softly, she watched the glass disappear, that was the best she could do.
What about the ink?

“Ehhh.” Syla said. “That’s not good.” She brought back to her mind potions class. Slughorn did seem to yell a lot. She just always thought that it was because he was a cantankerous old man and didn’t like children. That was probably the reason. She had never heard of a teacher yelling at the whole class about a single person doing a potion wrong. “I’m sure that’s not it. He’s just grumpy, probably. I’ve seen his office. It’s filled with butterbear and firewiskey. He probably just gets really annoyed when he doesn’t get a drink or two.” she tried to reassure her fellow Ravenclaw.
Syla hummed a ‘yeah’. “It wasn’t that bad. Well, it was. Nobody really gave me all the notes. People seem to like to watch second years squirm to get things done. It’s quite annoying, actually. I don’t understand why people can’t just help when you ask instead of judging you.” she ranted. “People are idiots and I hate them” she laughed. Her mother had said that once, during one of her rants on how pathetic the world is and how badly people can screw things up.
Syla laughed to herself. Why didn't I think of that? she asked herself after Veronica had cleaned up the glass. She looked at the papers, scanning her mind for a spell to clean the ink off. “I think I know a spell to clean this up, but it might get rid of all the ink. Like your work included.” she said, thinking harder to remember the spell.
