Brian Vein, class act of ravenclaw graciously stepped off the stone steps of Hogwarts castle towards the lawns, proceeding his walk towards the shrieking shack. He wanted to pay it one last visit to the shrieking shack while he was still in Hogwarts. One more week, one more week and he would be out of this castle forever, soon he'd be somewhere within the ministry, working for his own money, making his way to the top. Soon his unwealth would be over.
For you see, the life of Brian Vein hadn't always been as it should be. His father died before he could even celebrate his first birthday, Not so long after that, his mother fount another guy, - a muggle for that matter- leaving him on his own and 'gaining' another sister.
Well, exactly that sister was the point of all his misery. He didn't know his grandparents on his father's site, he only had his mother's parents left and his little sister, who by the way was a bloodtraitor in his not so humble opinion.
He hadn't always thought of his sister as a filthy bloodtraitor. Once they had gotten along just fine, although there were plenty of occasions when Brian had thought of her as the cause for his father's dying.. Which of course had nothing to do with it at all... Anyway... He had thought of her as his sister, though that changed when he was sorted into ravenclaw. The orphanage in which they were placed had toughened him up, but nothing had had so much impact on him as going into ravenclaw. His views on Muggles and mudbloods started to change. And then a year later, when his sister was sorted into Hufflepuff, he had been embarrassed, so embarrassed that he denied having a sister. His was embarrassed that his little girl had turned her back on real wizardry. From that day on, he decided that she was his sister no more.
Shaking the thoughts of, he walked further, trying to think of something else. 6 Years had gone since that particular evening, where he had left his sister for ever.... The shrieking shack doomed up in front of him, leaving him alone with his thoughts.. Or wasn't he alone?

The morning had started off very, very had for Veronica Chase, she'd woken up to a cold shower from her room mates who all ran off laughing straight away, she had then managed to break her quill and then to make matters worse someone had put something in her shampoo that dyed her hair blue! Oh well, least it was the house colour right?
The small Ravenclaw girl pulled her cloak over her head as she walked away from the school, yes for once she was leaving the grounds going off to explore the world outside of hogwarts... that and she needed a new quill! It was a rather chilly day and so the Roo wrapped her cloak tightly around her to keep herself warm as she walked.
She couldn't help but keep glancing over her shoulder as she walked, her mind thinking about all the people who picked on her. If she was her twin this wouldn't happen, but then agin if she was her twin she'd be dead so there really wasn't any point in using ifs. Veronica's head hung low as she walked, not looking at anyone just looking at her feet.
As she arrived in Hogsmeade her eyes shot up as she heard chatter, a group of Slytherins were stood not too far away from her. She looked down and started walking past very quickly until she heard one of them say her name, glancing up her eyes locked onto one of them before turning and running.
The poor girl didn't stop running, not until she fell over. Glancing over her shoulder she saw them stopped at the top of the path she'd run down, why wouldn't they follow? Slowly she pulled herself up as they all ran away, wincing slightly from a cut in her knee she moved over to the wall of the shack and sat down against it as tears formed in her eyes.

Well, it seemed that the day alone wouldn't count. No sooner had he started to walk down the path to the Shrieking Shack, and a girl already ran passed him, stumbling and cutting her knee as he put his hands in his pockets, making his way down. He stopped, death in his tracks as he recognized who it was. Veronica Chase, pretty girl and fellow ravenclaw, too sweet for her own good. He hesitated. A part of him wanted to walk away, knowing that a crying girl wasn't what he was good at, moaning girls however, that were his specialties. He bit the inside of his cheek, pondering for a few brief moments as he took over the possibilities that lay ahead.
With a small sigh, he continued his way, going down the path to where roo was sitting against the shack. His footsteps kicked away a few pebbles until he stood in front of her, hands still in his trousers. Now, Brian Vein was known for a few things. He was a womanizer, arrogant and a smartass, pure and loving that fact. In all honesty it was a mystery why he hadn't been placed in Slytherin. Yet, a few other things were known about Brian Vein too. He was very uncomfortable in situations like this.
"Hey.", he cleared his throat, sounding slightly hoarse as he looked down at the girl with tears in her eyes. He bend through his knees, hands loosely hanging over his legs as he studied her face. He waited for a few moments, trying to think of something to say. But he was never good at showing compassion, nor handling a crying girl. That's why he left quickly after he broke up with them, he couldn't stand them crying. He put his finger under her chin, heaving her head up while he brushed a few tears away with his other hand. "What are you crying about?", he continued as he looked at her scraped knee, coughing as he tried to find the perfect balance between being nice and cocky and himself at the same time.
He brushed off the sand in the cut, winking at her after he placed a soft kiss upon her knee. There, that was the way he could handle things, being smooth and luxurious, not thinking about consequences and just fooling around with every girl he liked. And well, he liked veronica, she was pretty, though perhaps too nice for the world around her.

It wasn't really her knee the small Ravenclaw was crying about, she was crying because... well because she had no friends, no one to turn to, no on to share her feelings with and no one to stand up for her. If her Twin was here it would be a different story, but then again it would of more then likely been that her sister was put into Slytherin because she had been a bit of a slut to be fair but... least she would of had someone right?
The small blonde's head shot up as she heard a voice pulling her out of her thoughts. "Hi..." She voiced softly, she knew instantly who it was when she looked at the guys face. Brian Vein, he was a rather popular Ravenclaw something that Veronica would never be, he had a lot of friends she didn't even have one! How she wished she could be more like him, or half the people in her house. She looked down, why was he helping her?
Not that she wasn't greatful though...
He was rather cute!
She looked up at him as he lifted her chin and wiped her eyes. "It's not my knee if thats what you think, i'm used to falling over and picking myself back up... It's..." The ammount of times Roo had raced away from bullies was too many to count really, since she'd started school she had been picked on from day one always being seen to be someone that was an easy target and to be fair she was.
"I don't understand what i ever did to anyone to make them hurt me the way they do, i mean isn't it enough that i have no friends?" This was something new for Veronica, she wasn't stuttering as she spoke, she actually felt rather safe with Brian.
Roo watched him brush the sand off of her knee and looked down after he winked at her, she wasn't used to being this close to a guy really. Then she felt the kiss on her knee and a small hint of red splashed onto her cheeks. "Thanks." She said smiling softly at him.

Brian Vein had never been good in soothing someone. He looked up at Veronica Chase, still slightly afraid of the sudden care he was tending her with. This was not how he planned to be, not what he wanted to be, not what he was at all. He looked at her, quite curiously at to what her respond would be. Telling him it wasn't about the knee, he leaned back a Little, still sitting on the same level as her, bended through his knees as he brushed his hand through his dark hair. This would be bad, really bad. It wasn't about her knee, so it would be about something else he wasn't ready for. Physical pain he could handle, emotional, that he was not good in at all.
Still, the words rolled out of her mouth, as if she was familiar to talking with him, though they had barely done so in the past. He nodded in response, softly trying to find the right position as his right hand landed upon the ground for support. So it were people that were bothering her, so much was for sure, well, he could have figured that out by himself you know. If it wasn't her knee than it must be somebody bugging her off. And it seemed like that happened rather a lot, judging by the way she was trying to get to tears out of her eyes.
"No problem.", he smiled down at her as he brushed a strand of hair out of her yes. He studied her features, she was pretty, now that he was looking at her up close. he scooted closer, his hands slowly trailing over her cheekbone until he moved his hair to his side again. "Don't let them get to you Roo.", he smiled up at her, thinking he had heard the shortened form of her name somewhere. Well, okay he was a smooth talker, but not so good in talking to talk and get somebody feel comfortable.. He could get her comfortable in other ways though, but that would probably inquire a bed and less clothing, he thought to himself.

Of course there were things that were upsetting Roo more then just being bullied, things that she couldn't talk to anyone here about darker things then a lot of them had ever heard about. Things to do with her sister, it had been a long time since it happened and she was stilling hurting. Locking up her feelings about it seemed to be the best thing to do at the time really, but now that she was at an all time low she was feeling the pain coming back.
Veronica had always wondered what it was like to be her sister, looked at by guys treated like a princess by them but she'd never really been able to talk to guys. Not since she found out about the guy who pretty much signed her sister's death. She'd come to believe that guys weren't meant to be trusted which was why she never really spoke to them, which was why when she spoke to Lyre she couldn't really talk to him even though he'd stopped her from falling off of a chair in the libary.
Veronica looked at him and smiled softly back at him as he smiled at her, a small shiver raced down her body as he pushed a strand of hair out of her eyes. She looked at him as he looked at her, what was he looking at? "Thats easy for you to say, you haven't had it the whole time you've been here." Roo said softly before giving him a rather weak smile.
Roo, she'd had the name since she was born it was what her brother called her because she was smaller then her sister and well he always thought that she was special ever since she was born a blue baby. He was right, she was a muggle born witch something they'd never had in the family before, of course there had been a few mutters in the family that she was a freak others said she was sent by god... but who knew why she was the way she was.

Brian nodded at Roo. She was right though. From the very first moment he had stepped into Hogwarts he had been on top of the world Yes, on the inside when he had been called forward by the old hag, he'd been so nervous, thinking he'd be placed in hufflepuff for sure, hating the entire fact that he might not be as brilliant as he really was. So he had walked up to the three-legged chair, sitting up, looking cool as ever with his slightly too long hair running down along his cheekbones. The had had been placed upon his head, busying itself over whether or not to put him in Slytherin or Ravenclaw. In the end, Ravenclaw had won, and he was quite happy about it.
He still was, yet, sometimes he wondered if Slytherin hadn't been better for him and his career opportunities, not that that mattered at the moment, he still had a year ahead of him before he finally graduated from this school. So, Roo was right, from that moment on, everything about hogwarts had spiked him beneficially. He had had loads of girls, probably like 3/4 of the entire population, a few guys - drunken mistakes nevertheless- and he was at the top of his own world. Yet, in his first year, there had been times when others had tried to tease him, tried, cause Brian's sharp tongue had quickly maneuvered around their hurtful approach.
"Listen Roo," he smiled softly down at her as he got up, extending his hand to her. "You've got to fight them, not cry about it because they're right. You've got to show them that you're better than them, worthy of something more than they first thought. you've got to make them see that they're wrong about you.", he smiled at her. Now, Roo was a pretty girl, hidden in the shadows, but of course, if she wanted he could help with getting her out of there. Somewhere more in the spotlight where she could shine like the true star she was. "Come here.", he said as he put his arm around her shoulder, grinning broadly. "First of all, I don't want to see any off those tears covering your pretty face again.. Secondly, we're going to walk past those blokes and act like we're having a heck of a time together." he grinned at her. Now, you might want to think about the fact that Brian here was being a gentleman for once, a true gentleman that wasn't in his nature.. but you see, he always had a plan. And this plan would be brilliant.

The little Ravenclaw often thought about her first day at Hogwarts, she could remember the feeling in the pit of her stomach on the way there on the train and how her heart raced when she was in the boat and then how much she shook as she stood waiting for her name to be called. Then when it did she tripped up the steps and turned bright red, when she sat on the stool it felt like forever until the hat called out Ravenclaw.
But of course those days were long gone, it had been forever since people actually spoke to her and had fun talking to her. Now it was just her alone with books, books and more books. Not that she minded that much she loved to read but the fact that she was all alone and had no one she did mind, she missed having people to talk to, your mind can only give you so much to talk about... to think about and a book can only let you forget for a while.
Roo looked up at Brian when he spoke, she took his hand and stood up as well. He was rather a nice guy really, she was glad it had been him down here and not someone else someone that would have been mean to her. "There is only one of me, how can i do anything?" As the words came out of her mouth she thought about all the books she had read over the years... all of them were just one person and all of them made changes, big changed.
Smiling softly Veronica glanced over her shoulder up the hill, she'd have to go up there at some point and when she did what would happen? Back to the real world? Back to a life with no friends? "O-o-ok." That was all she needed, the stuttering was back as he pulled her close to him and put his arm around her.
She listened to him and nodded softly, she barely cried but when she did it was normally a good reason. "Ok..." She'd stop crying that was the easy bit, but walking past those idiots? That was going to be hard. "I'll try." She spoke softly and sweetly, like an angel, her heart was pounding at the thought of going up there again and having to face those... those idiots!

Brian Vein smirked down at Veronica as she pulled her yet a little closer. "You'll be fine.", he soothed her as he started to walk up the path again. He had passed the guys on his way down to the shag. If it were the same guys that had set Roo to crying mode, they'd taunt him with this thing when they got back to the guy's dormitory.
For you see, four blokes had stood upon the path towards the shed. Four of Brian's best friends, all arrogant and too proud to give into one another. They were almost the same as him, cocky, hormone raging teenagers who preferred nothing above sex, and yes, they could get quite nasty towards people when they didn't really like them. So, well, if these guys, some of his friends, had been the ones who had teased Veronica, they'd sure give him a hard time afterwards, teasing him that he was becoming to soft, asking him when the marriage would come etc etc..
Of course, they knew that it was all an act. Brian was never nice for nothing. And well, the girls he normally hung around with were not at all like veronica. They were confident, self- assured, hot - well, there was no way in denying that veronica wasn't pretty - but with just a little bit more confidence she could be so much more.
So when they were at the top, he smiled at her, encouraging her to keep a happy face as they walked past a group of guys. They weren't his friends, so lucky him, he be taunted about that later on. "Keep smiling, Princess.", he grinned at her while he pulled her closer, giving the guys an evil glare that told them to be careful with what they were doing, and who they were dealing with.
"See.", he said with a large grin upon his features as she somewhat loosened the grip upon her shoulders. "Easy as that. No thing to it." He brushed his hand through his hair, looking superior in many ways as his eyes casually glanced to the group one last time before he could fully focus upon the girl in front of him. She was sweet and innocent, the total opposite of what he normally had, but well... change of spices feeded the appetite, right?
