Everybody in Hogwarts who knew a thing about Dooriya Baille knew that she was high in ranking for the clumsiest person on the planet. Disregard the wizarding world, the girl could easily take the gold in the entire world, muggle and wizarding alike. That always begged the question, 'Why do you go here' or 'Why do you do this?' It drove Dori bonkers to hear those questions. Like she'd honestly give up a good portion of her life because she was prone to falling down. If anything, as a sixth year she was completely used to it and figured everybody else might as well get over it. Some people had stopped bothering with their vicious chuckles every time she took a spill, and some people would never learn. None of that really got Dori down. She always tried to look at the brighter things in life.
However, she still should have known better than to go trekking around the Hogwarts Grounds after dark. That was just a huge opportunity for her to break a limb or something along the lines of that. She especially should have known better because she is supposed to have the wit of a Ravenclaw. Most of the time she did. That particular evening it seemed to be off in its own little world, not bothering to warn Dori against her decisions. She generally wasn't a rule breaker, and she only did so when she felt it to be absolutely necessary. The girls in the Ravenclaw Common Room had gotten so chatty that Dori had wanted to drill a pointy end of something through her temple. As an optimist, that meant she was really being driven crazy. So she had to get out, as any sane person would decide to do. If she had chosen to go to bed instead, she would lie awake for two reasons. One, she wasn't tired. Two, she could still hear all of the chitter-chatter from the comfort of her bed.
Instead of putting up with it for any longer, the sixth year Ravenclaw had decided to venture outside for a bit. It was September, so it was likely to be quite chilly outdoors. She made sure to grab her furry, white winter coat to bring with her so that she would stay warm. It was her favorite. Made to feel like real fur, but not a single animal was used in the creation of it. Dori would never even dream of wearing real animal parts, and she definitely got that personality trait from her father, who worked with dragons. She, too, aspired to work with animals, although probably something of the less dangerous variety. Clumsiness and dragons really wouldn't mesh well together. Wand in pocket, and coat wrapped tightly around her, Dori made her way outside for a few minutes of fresh air. Sneaking out was dangerous, because she was liable to just tumble down the stairs, but she had made it undetected thus far.
Surprisingly enough, she found herself to be a bit warm in the white coat, so she folded it up and laid it down on the pavement right before the grass. She could easily pick it up on her way back inside, and it was also a move she would soon appreciate. Nobody liked a ruined coat, and that included those of the Clumsy Club. Speaking of which, the second Dori took a step down toward the lake, her foot caught on virtually nothing, and she felt her torso hit the ground with a slight thud. "Oomph!" The only noise that has escaped her had been almost silent, but had anybody been around, a bit on the humorous side. Luckily, she was used to falling, and her forearms took the majority of the force when she landed. They would be bruised in the morning, but she would much rather her arms be bruised than her stomach.
That would normally be the end of her fall. She would get back up, brush herself off, and move back inside. However, since she was standing on a slight slope, and she had hit the ground so hard, she actually began to roll downward toward the lake. Almost having to hold her mouth so not to scream out in surprise, she started clinging at the dirt with the fingers so to stop the gravity that was pushing her downward. She almost had it too, and had she been a little to the left, a large rock would have stopped her altogether. As soon as she hit the actual water, she wished she had her coat on. Wet and muddy it would be, but at least she would be warmer than she was. It was about two seconds before she came jumping back out of the water, clinging to the ground like a cat who had gotten thrown into an unsuspected bath.
Unfortunately, her wand was in her coat pocket, so she wouldn't be able to spit out an instant-drying spell for a good minute or so. Her luck went even more downhill when she thought she heard the crunching of a twig or two nearby. There was no way she could risk sprinting to her coat, reciting the spell, and then sneaking inside. She'd get caught in two seconds. Instead, she hastily sprung to her feet and then fled for the nearby tree. Grabbing a hold of it, she made sure that her body would be completely unseen by any approaching authority figures or monsters. For a second she thought it was gone, but it wasn't long before she heard a few other leaves rustle and twigs snap. Hopefully it was just some animal who had heard her splashing around in the lake. Whatever it was, it need to hurry along, because she freezing half-to-death in her nightgown.
A few seconds later, her body actually had the initiative to fall down again. At least this time she didn't start rolling. [/size]
