Why is everyone so scared of one another why does no-one have the trust to say hello Remus brushed a hand through his sandy blonde hair. The sun was still out, dispite the gathering of the winter. It was still cold, but the coat was keeping him warm. Warmer, anyway. It was odd to see Remus out of school uniform, since his at ease clothing wasn't exactly up to scratch. A lot second hand and most tatty. But, that didn't matter at the moment, no-one could see him out here by the edge of the gates. The high walls cast their shadows across the grass, in one of these shadows he was standing. A lot of the time, Remus didn't venture out into the night, but the sky above was a dull grey, the moon being only a crescent shape. This was something he cherished, an early night in the moon cycle.
The dark circles under his eyes weren't as visible as they would be later on in the month, and he all together looked healthier. He shoved his hands into the pockets of his black coat, leaning against the high wall of the school. His blue-green eyes could see up through the trees to where the light from the castle was visible. He didn't have to look hard, the castle was huge and it loomed above the forest. But, no-one was looking close enough at one of the walls to notice Remus standing, well leaning, there. Remus closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath of the clean, fresh air. It was right at the beginning of a new term, his seventh start at Hogwarts. He absentmindedly itched one of the newer grazes across his arm, one he'd given himself last full moon. Painful times.
The wall protected him from the wind that was picking up, blowing across the long grass. His blonde hair was being whisked back and forth across his forehead, but it wasn't bothering him now, he was just glad that this was a calm place. Stress had ruled his life for a lot longer than he had ever thought. He'd thought he'd get used to it, every month, twelve times a year. One hundred and twenty times a decade. But it had been over a decade, almost fifteen years. He breathed out, trying to excel a few thoughts with the same breath. It clouded up infront of him, showing the beautifully cold weather of Northern Britain. He shivered slightly, pulling his coat in closer. He was slightly skinny for his age, a result of stressful living. He could take it easy, but it took effort, and when he did manage it it was ruined when the next month rolled around.
He'd spent so much time with the rest of the Marauders over the summer, it felt odd not to be with them, especially when it was at night. He found that he was rarely alone at night or in the daylight. Being alone had been something he prefered rather than company, he never liked to let anyone get too close incase they got in the way of a claw or a tooth, but he hadn't really been able to help it with the Marauders. Both Sirius and James had a much more forceful personality than he did. Not that he minded, now a days he much prefered the company of the marauders. He looked out across the dark grounds, watching the lights of the castle reflect off the dark surface of the lake. Join the party of my sisters, oh my brothers Because this insecurity has got to go

. sirius. orion. black.::::: It had been a tough day. Don’t get him wrong; tough did not mean boring, awful and sad. Not at all. In fact, in Sirius Black’s world, a tough day meant a day full of pranks, annoying teachers, and detentions. Oh and also, some evading Filch and bothering first years. Yes, that was his idea of a fun day. Tough was good in his world. If life wasn’t tough, it’d have to be easy. And where’s the fun in being a marauder if life’s easy. Being part of the marauders was all about taking risks, living the life, man. Well, it was in Sirius’ and James’ world, at least. Wormtail and Moony… well let’s just say they had other principles. Sirius made his way down the last flight of stairs in his descent from Flitwick’s office and looked around for a sign of any of his best mates. Not one. Yes, he’d just gotten a Friday detention from Flitwick. And that was something. Flitwick never gave out detentions unless absolutely necessary. And they weren’t usually very hard or tiring. This time, he’d only gotten lines for an hour and a half. You might ask what he did wrong to deserve a detention from one of the most lenient professors at Hogwarts. In a marauder’s world, there’s always something going on. Sirius had merely decided that he was bored in Charms and had set off an exploding firecracker. It had zoomed around the classroom, hitting a few students on the heads, and had finally collided straight into the pile of books that Flitwick used to be able to see over his desk. Naturally, the books had toppled over, taking the professor down with them. Questions were asked, fingers were pointed, and the result was the little man shouting at Sirius Black for five minutes straight until the sound of the bell saved the rest of the class from the pissed-off professor.
Snickering at the memory of Flitwick falling backwards, Sirius tried to recall where he’d agreed on meeting with Prongs, or Moony. He hadn’t seen Peter since they woke up. Erm, no. Perhaps he had not, in fact, agreed on meeting anywhere. Strange. They usually did. Now, where could James be? Not in the common room, it was too early for that. Maybe in the Quidditch pitch? Yeah, he’d go check there first. Remus would be in the library, as usual. He’d go check there next if the pitch was empty. Walking over to the front doors of the school, Sirius pushed them open and stepped out onto the darkening sky. The wind was chilly and blowing hard. His jet-black silky hair swept back and forth across his forehead as he walked towards the pitch. Sirius stuffed his hands in his pockets and squinted a little, trying to shield his face from the wind. The moon was out, only a crescent shape. That was good. Moony wouldn’t be suffering. It was really something horrible; and inhumane terror that Remus Lupin had to go through when the moon was complete. A terror brought upon an innocent young boy. But the marauders would always be there for him; for Remus. After all, he was their best friend.
Speaking of which… Sirius swiveled to a stop as he passed the main gates of the school on his way to the Quidditch field. Remus? Sure enough, there was his friend. Just behind a wall near the gates, resting or relaxing somehow. Sirius considered his options, and then decided that he would just forget the Quidditch Pitch. Now that he thought about it, the night was way too windy for a nice fly on a broomstick. James would be inside then.
“Yo, Moony!” he called out, waving with one hand and jogging up to his blond friend. He patted him playfully on the shoulder. “Why are you out here alone? Doesn’t seem very exciting…” he continued, looking at their surroundings. Nope. Not exciting whatsoever. Nothing was going on except the hooting of owls in the distance and the strong wind picking up with every passing minute. “Oh, by the way, I’ve got detention on Friday from Flitwick; we’ll have to sneak into Hogsmeade a little later than we planned.” Which was, of course, their plan. One Friday every month the four marauders would get under James’ invisibility cloak and head into the nearest town; Hogsmeade. Of course, that was prohibited by the school rules…but since when did the marauders follow them?

Why is everyone so scared of one another why does no-one have the trust to say hello “Yo, Moony!” Remus looked up, his green-blue eyes zoning in on the dark figure crossing the space between them. He smiled, his eye lighting up. There really weren't many people that could make Remus grin, actually there were three. To be truthful, Peter didn't have the same effect. Odd that. But, James and Sirius did. The effect of turning on a light switch. He didn't move from his position, one reason because it was freezing and he was warmish where he was. It seemed like he was warm anyway, he didn't have a fur coat or anything, but like hell he wanted one at this point! That would be insane, and he was anything from that. "Hey Pads." He replied as cheerfully as he could muster, which was actually quite a lot for him. He hates to think that people worried about him so he tried as hard as he could to act that he was perfectly alright. He usually didn't fool the Marauders, but at the moment he was alright.
“Why are you out here alone? Doesn’t seem very exciting…”
He laughed, the wind whipping at his pale blonde hair. He tucked in his elbows to keep out the chill. One thing about being skinny as he was, you got cold easily. But, he couldn't help it. When stress kicked in you really didn't feel like stuffing your face, at least Remus didn't. Maybe that was just him, he wasn't really one for eating much as it was. He would get scoulded at home by his father for not eating, but then his father was the same. He hardly ever ate at the house, prefering to do so at the office or not at all. His mother, on the other hand, could be said to have gone a tad off the rails since Remus' attack. It was something that he couldn't bare to watch, to think that he had caused this for his mother. Basically ruined his life. He also couldn't wallow in self pity, but he was getting good practise at that. "Hey, excitement's over-rated." He countered with a shrug. The movement of his shoulders pulled his jacket from around his waist, letting the wind kick in. He shivered. "What are you doing out here?" He asked out of curiosity. “Oh, by the way, I’ve got detention on Friday from Flitwick; we’ll have to sneak into Hogsmeade a little later than we planned.” Remus raised his eyebrows. He didn't tend to get many detentions since when he did break curfew or something he didn't get caught. He wasn't usually as involved in the more obvious pranks pulled by James or Sirius. He may openly taunt Snivvy, but on his own he wouldn't. On his own he tended to do very little all together. "What did you do this time?" He asked with a mocking roll of his eyes. The Marauders were the good types of friends that could easily mock one of their own and the others would take it as a joke. Of course, they all knew how to insult the other, but would never for the sake of trying to hurt the other. That wouldn't exactly class them as good friends. Sneaking out to Hogsmeade was a very regular thing for the four boys. "D'you think we still fit under the cloak. Two's a push, but four? Even with Pete as a rat." He knew his bulk wasn't much, but he was still five foot eleven. Lanky could be thought of, but he'd never admit it. James and Sirius were all around the same height, it was amazing they they had fit last year. He swore that their ankles showed, if not their knees as well. His eyes automatically glanced up at the clouds above which were covering the moon. It was an unconscious habit he had, even when it was broad daylight he'd look up at the sky, just in case. You can see why, but he tended to look away quickly when he realised he was doing it. It was a silly reaction. He flicked his eyes towards the forest. He brought out his wand and let the word lumos flick into his brain. Silent spells were becoming a speciality of his. The tip of his wand lit up, shining through the trees. There was nothing really to look at, he just felt like throwing some light into the situation.[/blockquote][/blockquote] Join the party of my sisters, oh my brothers Because this insecurity has got to go

. sirius. orion. black.::::: Leaning against the brick wall beside his friend, Sirius yawned. "Spoken like a true Moony, mate," he said, replying to Remus' comment about over-ration. Of course, totally not spoken like a true marauder, but whatever. Remus was the only member of the marauders that wasn't constantly breaking rules, getting detentions, starting food fights, and annoying the heck out of teachers. He was the goody-two-shoes; the one who let his best friends copy his homework when they'd forgotten to do it; the one who got them out of trouble sometimes. Yeah, having Moony as a "partner in crime" had its advantages.
"Don't you want me here?" Sirius asked, pretending to be wounded and sticking his bottom lip out in a mock pout. It was a tactic that he had learned to perfect in six years time. His puppy face. Although it usually didn't involve exaggerated lip-sticking. Just a little and the teachers would buy it. Of course, it worked best when he was eleven...and not seventeen. Still, some teachers bought it...okay, almost none, and only if they were having a good day. Yet, it was widely known that Sirius Black had a way with the professors. Especially young, female ones. So around 10% of them. Even Remus, who was definitely not a young female, sometimes bought his pout. After all, it was the famous Padfoot puppy look. "Aw, come on Moony. Don't give me that look," he whinned, crossing his arms over his chest and glancing at Remus as he lit his wand. It was getting dark, actually. But what was the problem? Dark was good. Less chances of being seen, getting caught; let's just say he'd had experience with dark and light. Overall, dark was better.
"I was merely bored in Charms and decided to set off an exploding firecracker that might have accidentally hit Flitwick in the head..." he explained, puttiig on the most innocent face he could muster, but then he recalled the memory and grinned. "You should've seen him! He fell backwards and it was hilarious!" Sirius added, laughing openly. Yet, he wasn't expecting Remus to find this as amusing as he did. After all, he'd "wounded" a teacher, and in Moony's book, that was bad. Very bad.
"Are you kidding? Of course we do! Well...you and Prongs do," Sirius replied, thinking about it. Yeah, he doubted that all four would fit under the invisibility cloak. Last year had been a struggle, and even the year before that...they'd barely covered their feet. They were pushing it too far, he thought, and Prongs agreed. His cloak had to be treated with respect, understand its limits, love it, care for it... yeah well, James was known for getting a little emotional with his belongings. "I'll do dog and Pete'll go rat. We're the least recognizable. And you're the one that shouldn't get caught, really. Prongs and I...well one more detention can't hurt anyone, huh?"

"Spoken like a true Moony, mate," He shook his head, a smile still on his lips. No-one could help but feel better after a conversation with Sirius. One of those unflappable people that always seemed cheerful, just what Remus needed. "Who else did you expect?""Weren't meeting anyone out here, were you?" He asked, raising one eyebrow suspiciously. You never knew, Sirius could have been bringing some young Gryffindor girl down for a galavant around the grounds. It was known to have been done before. He didn't do it, but there was quite a good reason for that.
"Don't you want me here? Aw, come on Moony. Don't give me that look," "That's not what I meany, and you know it." He rolled his blue eyes. He looked over at Pads, being slightly taller than him, but not too much, he was leaning down anyway. "Don't do the face," He protested "You know it works on me, even when you're not actually being a puppy." He gave Sirius a mocked annoyed face to match his mocked woundedness. "Which look?" He frowned. He hadn't been aware he'd been giving a 'look'. Oh, maybe he had. "What the 'do I really want to know what you did this time' look?" He asked lightly.
"I was merely bored in Charms and decided to set off an exploding firecracker that might have accidentally hit Flitwick in the head... You should've seen him! He fell backwards and it was hilarious!" Remus groaned, resting his head back against the wall. "Are there any teachers you can't just leave alone?" It was more of a rhetorical question, since he already knew the answer. Leaving something alone wasn't something that James or Sirius were used to doing. Remus could do it, let comments fly and actions go passed him. He didn't really care any more.
"Are you kidding? Of course we do! Well...you and Prongs do, I'll do dog and Pete'll go rat. We're the least recognizable. And you're the one that shouldn't get caught, really. Prongs and I...well one more detention can't hurt anyone, huh?"
He nodded in agreement to Sirius' idea. He'd only had one detention in his six years and that had been in his third when he'd been caught with James and Sirius. Usually he was good at not getting into trouble. But, then again, he was here on a conditional offer that he didn't make any trouble, he didn't want to disappoint Proffessor Dumbledore. "Wouldn't hurt at all. You might be able to break the record for the most detentions in the first month. I think the record's held by your brother at the moment." He didn't know much about Regulus Black, but he did get a rather biased opinion from Sirius. "How is your brother, you know after you left this summer? You don't have to say if you don't want to though." Remus wasn't one to pry, he was just curious.
